Signs from the Spirit World: Recognize and Believe in Spiritual Connections

Seeing isn't believing, Believing is seeing

Yesterday, I experienced a moment that reminded me of the signs from the spirit world. These moments remind us that loved ones who’ve passed are always with us, sending subtle messages of connection and love.

It was a quiet morning, much like the ones I’ve been used to since September, when my beloved cat May, my companion of over 16 years, passed away. Her absence left a silence I wasn’t prepared for, but I knew in my heart she had chosen her moment—passing while I was away—to spare me the pain of finding her. Still, I’ve struggled with not being able to say a proper goodbye to her in the physical world.

Four months later, for the first time in decades, our home has no animals. It feels different, but it also feels like space is being created for something new: a teaching and healing center on our property. As I prepared for my day, vacuuming the house, I stumbled upon something extraordinary.

While cleaning out the vacuum canister, I discovered pieces of May’s kibble—something I hadn’t seen in months—and nestled there, as if placed intentionally, was a perfect heart. I froze, my breath catching, as I felt her presence wash over me. She was there, reminding me that our bond remains unbroken.

This moment reaffirmed what I’ve known all along: our loved ones, including our pets, never truly leave us. They remain connected, sending signs and messages of love from beyond. But recognizing these signs requires us to let go of doubt and lean into belief.

Why It’s Easy to Miss the Signs from the Spirit World

In a world driven by logic and rationality, we’re conditioned to dismiss things we can’t explain. We talk ourselves out of believing:

  • “It’s just a coincidence.”
  • “I must be imagining things.”
  • “That can’t be real.”

But what if you allowed yourself to believe? What if you stopped explaining away the unexplainable and trusted your intuition instead?

Signs from the spirit world aren’t always grand gestures like parting the Red Sea. Often, they’re subtle—a feather on the ground, a familiar scent, a perfectly timed song on the radio. The more we dismiss them, the harder it becomes to recognize the love and connection they’re offering. Recognize Signs from the Spirit World

Recognizing and Understanding Signs from the Spirit World

If you’re open to it, signs can come in many forms. Understanding signs from the spirit world can help you feel connected to those you’ve loved and lost.  Here are some of the most common ways loved ones communicate:

1. Objects in Unexpected Places

Like May’s kibble and the heart I found, loved ones may move or place objects in ways that catch your attention. Coins, feathers, or items tied to specific memories often appear.

2. Dreams and Visions

Dreams are a powerful way for spirits to connect because our logical mind is at rest. Pay attention to dreams that feel vivid or carry a sense of presence and peace.

3. Familiar Scents

A sudden whiff of your grandmother’s perfume or the smell of your pet’s fur can be a clear sign of connection. These sensory triggers often stir strong emotional responses.

4. Songs and Words

Ever hear a song on the radio that perfectly matches what you’re feeling? Or come across a book or article that seems to speak directly to you? What about hearing a song that was your loved one’s favorite?  These synchronicities are more than coincidence.

5. Energy Shifts

Feeling a sudden warmth, a tingling sensation, or even the unmistakable feeling of someone nearby are ways spirits connect. These moments often feel comforting and grounding.

Unlocking the Power of Signs from the Spirit World

Here’s the truth: believing isn’t seeing; seeing is believing. The more you allow yourself to trust the signs you receive, the more you’ll notice them. It’s not about demanding proof—it’s about leaning into the energy of love and connection.

Here are three ways to deepen your awareness and belief:

1) Stay Present

In our busy lives, we often rush past the very signs we’re looking for. Practicing mindfulness—whether through meditation, journaling, or simply pausing to breathe—creates space to recognize what’s right in front of us.

2) Express Gratitude

When you notice a sign, acknowledge it. Say thank you. Gratitude strengthens the connection and invites more communication.

3) Trust Your Intuition

Your gut knows more than you give it credit for. If you feel that something is a sign, it probably is. Trust that feeling, and resist the urge to explain it away.

Why Now Is the Time to Believe in Signs from the Spirit World

The world feels heavy right now. Many of us are grappling with loss, change, and uncertainty. In times like these, connection—whether with ourselves, our communities, or the spirit world—is more important than ever.

Allowing yourself to believe in the unseen offers comfort, hope, and a renewed sense of purpose. It reminds us that love transcends physical boundaries and that we’re never truly alone.

Lessons from Signs in the Spirit World: Let Go and Believe

When May passed, I struggled with guilt and longing. I wanted to hold her one last time to tell her I loved her in the physical way we’re so accustomed to. But finding that heart in the vacuum reminded me that our bond doesn’t depend on her physical presence.

Our loved ones—human and animal—are always near, offering their love and guidance. All we have to do is open ourselves to it.
